Please try to revert to version 7.x-3.11 and check if it works. Normally, updating views does not affect displaying page.
In version 3.11 works fine, but what to do in future?
You can go to admin/reports/updates and check. We recommend that you should update red highlighted modules only because they are related security. Others are no needed when there are not many changes in functions.

Any chance this issue with the Views module will ever be fixed? The Views update is for security.

About module views update: you can download new module views from https://www.drupal.org/project/views, replace old module in sites/all/modules/contrib with it then clear Drupal cache.
