How exactly do I use one of the AweContent templates on my home page? I am failing to do it. When I click +Add page template it loads the drag and drop screen, but thats about it.

Hi,
If you click "Add page template", it is creating a new page template from beginning. After creating page template, you can save it and it will appear in /awe-content/templates (being listed with default page templates as in your screenshot)
As you can see, there is no option to edit or delete our default template. Thus, you have to clone it if you want to edit the template
To set homepage, you need to go to Configuration => Site information (/admin/config/system/site-information)
