Not sure if I have done something wrong, but there is no preloader and a strange kind of banner (I think its the page loading the images) for about a second or two before the slider starts to work properly. This is on Drupal v7. Do I need to enable the preloader somewhere or set caching? Any help appreciated.

Did you enable Preloader in MD Slider > Configure?
I'm not seeing that option. I'm using v7. I am looking under "structure", "MD slider" and then "configure".

We check and see css conflict between module slider and file sites/all/themes/aurum/css/purple/animations.css
Please add the following custom css => file style of your theme
.wrap-loader-slider.animated{visibility: visible;}
Then clear Drupal cache
