Hiding the display of a taxonomy field means that the filter is not available in MD - Style Portfolio | Settings

HI there,

I have a Content Type (video_post) with several Taxonomy fields. I wish to use these in an MD Portfolio View.

I want to hide these fields from displaying on the node page, and so I go to:

/admin/structure/types/manage/video_post/display

and set these Taxonomy fields to 'hidden':

https://www.evernote.com/l/AAWzzbo2JPZAxaymUD1oNpGpwS9t6c3faZY

This works as expected, in that they no longer appear on the node page.

The consequence of this though, is that these Taxonomy fields now don't show up as filter options in the MD Portfolio View, under:

MD Portfolio | Settings > Taxonomy filter (dropdown)

Here is a screen shot of the Taxonomy filter (dropdown) when the Taxonomy fields are NOT set to hidden in the display settings for the Video Post content type:

and here is a screen shot of the Taxonomy filter (dropdown) when the Taxonomy fields ARE set to hidden in the display settings for the Video Post content type:

Is this expected behaviour?

I've hidden the fields on the node page with CSS, but would rather that they were hidden (not in) the HTML as per the Drupal option to hide them.

Please advise.

I have sent an email (Weds 29th April 2015) to [email protected] with my Drupal install login details and the paths to the Content Types, Views and Taxonomy terms in question.

Thanks,

Nathan.

Hi,

We are not very clear about your question.

Do you mean that you don't want to show those fields in a detail page? If yes, you don't need to hide those fileds in Manage Display. However, in detail page of content type video_post, you have to override template

You can see the video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfwU0WtCuPs

I've hidden them in a node--video_post.tpl.php file.

Thanks.
