How do you change the main banners? I've already tried changing it through appearance>theme settings>pages but it didn't work.

Which main banner are you talking about. If the banner is at homepage, you can change it by:
1. Fullscreen slider => Please go to /admin/structure/fullscreen-slider and edit the slider
2. Go to /admin/content/blocks
If you want to change the banner for a specific page:
- Go to themesetting => pages => page title (You have to insert the node path, not url custom)
Where does it show the node id?
Please click "Edit" to edit page. In url, you could see node ID of page.
