Images missing in imported slideshow

Hi all,

After exporting a slideshow and then importing it to a new website the slideshow looks like this http://i.imgur.com/cKgs1ZD.png ie the slides and text are there but the images are missing - no background image and any layer images are broken image path icons. If I click on a broken image icon to see the path it is using I get the home page URL ie not an image file path.

Looking at an export file there are no file paths for images used in a slideshow - it looks like each image is referenced as a number eg
background_image":"508",
where 508 corresponds to a particular image on my server (perhaps the 508th image uploaded on this website).

So I still need to copy the images to the new website. But since the export file contains no file paths how can I match up the images uploaded to the new website with the imported MD slider?

Hi,
Currently, the export function does not support exporting files, only metadata. Thus, all the images will be not exported and therefore there will be also no images to import.
You still have to copy the image to the new site,

@ Cindy OK but since the export file does not use image paths but uses reference numbers like 508 I suspect that copying images to the new site will not work ie since the reference number 508 might not have the same meaning on the new site. I will check but I suspect I would need to delete all the images and then upload them one by one in the new website's md slider UI.

Hi Juc1
Can you advise how you exported your slideshow?

I am a  noob when it comes to Drupal and currently working on a slideshow in a local dev environment.  I didn't want to get to far along before I realized that I could/couldn't do something.  Did you ever figure out a solution to your image problem?

Any help would be appreciated...

Hi,

When you export a slider from a local dev site and import it into a live site, only the settings of slider is exported and then imported

It means that you have to upload the images again

About how to import and export md slider, please read the documentation for detail instruction

Cindy, where is the documentation on importing and exporting? I do not see it here, http://killeenstudio.com/sites/all/modules/md_slider/Documentation/#!/su....

I need to know the best way to migrate sliders from a dev site to production site.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Sorry for this mistake, the documentation is not updated yet

Please go to Structure > MD Slider > Import & Export tab

Choose Slider you want to export and hit the button Export. After that, the data will be exported and appear in the Export data form below. You just copy the data and paste into Import form of the site you want to import and end up by clicking on Import button

Yes, I see the import/export tab. What about the images? It looks like the import/export only migrates the settings. Please provide an example of the most effective way to migrate 10 sliders, each with 10 images, from a dev site to a production site.

Hi,

As mentioned above, when you export a slider from a local dev site and import it into a live site, only the settings of slider is exported and then imported

It means that you have to upload the images again.

If you have 10 sliders, those 10 sliders will all appear in "choose sliders to export" You can select all 10 sliders, hit export button, copy all data and then paste in import data form
