MD FullScreen Slider: How to make entire slide a link?

We would like to be able to make the entire slide of the fullscreen slider a link.

So far we have found 2 ways to come close:

1. Create a text object, stretch it the full size of the slide, remove any text and make it a link, add a custom class to it. Then add some css to the theme along the lines of: .custom-class-name a { width:100%; height:100%; display:block } (the "Custom CSS" field for an object does not appear to save, but the "Custom Classes" field does).

2. Create a 1x1 transparent picture, add it as a new "image" object, stretch it the full size of the slide and then making that image object a link.

Both options only work for the max size of the slide, which for some reason seems to be 1220x660 under "Size & Position", which means if you have a screen larger than this, there will be areas around the edges that are not click able.

Option #2 has a problem on some mobile devices, it appears the image object link doesn't function, you can tap on it, but it doesn't do anything.

Is there another way to do this or can this functionality be added? Say under the cog wheel for a slide an option to make the Slide Image a link?

Hi,
Regarding your question about making the entire slide of the fullscreen slider a link, we currently haven't supported this function yet.
About "1220 x 660", it is not the standard size but it is used as a formula to calculate the "save zone"(the area in which objects are displayed) in different displayed platform.

Has there been any progress towards support of "clickable" slides?

I guess there is always the option of using one of the above techniques to make a "take me there" clickable object but a built-in option would be prefered.

Not that they've released, we've just been going with option 1 as I described above.

Hi,

We are sorry that we have not supported this function on fullscreen slider yet.

It's a shame that we pay for modules and yet these basic functionalities are not provided despite this ticket being opened for such a long time.

I thought its best for me to implement it instead of waiting. I have created a patch with the changes to convert a slide into hyperlink. The gist is available here: https://gist.github.com/gumdal/e580cd80199c871fa52f677538771551

I have defined a new "URL:" label protocol for each slide. If a slide has this label defined then the whole slide's div is converted into hyperlink with whatever link is provided after my URL: protocol. For example check this:

Image title

The code (patch) is configured such that label with text which begins with URL: is never rendered as text but it is used to convert the slide into a hyperlink.

For a live working example check: indiansnakes.

Assumption: The only limitation of this method is, you should not hyperlink any text or images which are used within this hyperlinked slide coz the anchor tags cannot be nested, apparently.

It´s really unbelivible a slider without the function of link the slide to some url. I can´t understand for what this module is for without this function.

Thank you Gumbal to save my order. The patch works well.

@Gumdal,

Thank you for this patch. April of 2018 and it still doesn't seem this functionality exists.

Will your patch apply to the newest 7.x-2.24?

Thanks

Hi all,

In the newest version of MD Slider (not MD Fullscreen Slider) for Drupal 7, we add option to link a slide already. However, this version is not released yet because we need to add some more other features. If you need now, please tell us and we will send you first

is it possible to make it function for sizes smaller than desktop? How and/or why does it strip out layers at lower sizes?
