Changing a content type layout - some instructions as to where to do this

I would like to change the node layout for all the blog posts (EG update the existing header and add a few more elements like a new content footer zone for content type blog)

I am not sure where to do this and would appreciate a pointer

Template files of node content type are in sites\all\themes\md_avendor\templates\node. You can please edit template file of any content type.
