Please go to admin/appearance/settings/md_apage > Design > Layout.
And, to add block to sidebar: go to admin/structure/context/list/blog/edit
Thank you. The second part was what I was missing.
Also, how can I display categories in side column? It seems I'd be able to add it here admin/structure/context/list/blog/edit but there is no option for categories. Is there a way to create custom content for the sidebar?

You can please take a look at admin/structure/views/view/apage_tag/edit and create your own view similar to that one.
